First Month Down! Now into October...

Hello all!  The honeymoon is over, and we are back at work in full force.  I have been so blessed to have such awesome students in my classes.  It always amazes me the great personalities, the willingness to share, and the overwhelming sense of community that is building up!  Hopefully you are all feeling the same way, and parents, always feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns!  Here are a few things going on in each class:

Personal finance:  We learned about making great decisions, and moved into creating resumes and talking about job interviews.  Next we are going to talk about how to read your paycheck, and how to manage your money!  Then it is on to budgets.  Take some time to talk about your own family and how the budget happens each month. Share with your kids the struggles and triumphs you have had throughout your working life.  They need to know!  Lesson 2 quiz coming up next week!

Science:  We learned about graphing, measurement, and even if your head size actually affects the distance you can jump!  (Graphs on that to come).  Next week we will learn about the themes of biology, and learn about lab safety.  We are growing some rye grass, basil, and a spider plant right now.  One student wanted to grow some forget-me-nots, and I say, "why not?"

Biology Co-Taught:  Currently working on unit #2 Classification of Life.  Notes are posted on the Google classroom.  If you are reading this, take time to make sure you have all the notes in your lab notebook!  Also ensure that you understand the 7 characteristics of life (remember, if it doesn't have all 7, its not alive).  We have been quizzing weekly, and all homework is usually due on quiz day which is generally Friday, so set your cell phone reminder to buzz on Thursday night to ensure all your homework is done!

Pretty soon I will get the Environmental club up and running.  I am working on getting supplies to build some pretty cool Underwater remotely operated vehicles, and have recently been contacted by a donor who may supply some of the things we need to do this!

Have a great October, and keep in touch!

Also, see me at the Thrifter Sister this weekend in Escanaba at the Fairgrounds.  A portion of the sales of my sourdough pumpkin spice rolls (#suckerpunchsourdough)  will go to Lakestate industries who support employment for people with disabilities!

  1. Hello! Just an update, I made over $100 to donate to Lakestate! Also, someone brought me some candles because they use them for their fire starters! Awesome day on Saturday!
