September Esky Rumblings
Dear Eskymo students, families and supporters,
Wow! What an amazing start to the year! We have just about finished setting up our online students, have seen the eyes of many of our students (and their smiles💖 when they get to take a break from their masks, socially distanced and generally outside), and have begun distribution of hundreds of laptops this year! As we work through the coordination of this awesome tool for students, we just want to remind everyone to read through the policies in place on our school website for the student Chromebooks.
A few things to think about:
1. The Chromebooks are the property of the school, and because of that we have a strong filter👀 that automatically sends notification to administration of inappropriate searches, websites, or even emails that are sent by students.
2. Use of the Chromebooks is a privilege that we hope all students can continue to have. Please understand that we want you to customize your settings that are available, as well as use it for your personal interests as well as your educational interests. We know that there is a lot to learn from the internet, and want to give you access to all the positive sites possible!
3. There are guidelines for technology support that are outlined on the website, please read them!😊
September Goals:
As we embark on this atypical year, I would encourage you to do some new things to support yourself, your education, and your support system/family.
My September goal is to form an advisory group that will assist in creating ideas for our new online platforms. I would love to get student/parent/guardian input in a way that will constructively aide our school in making this the best year for all students regardless of their education format. Reminders:
After this week, we have no more weekdays off this month.
Check eskymos.com and then click on Escanaba Jr/Sr High for daily announcements, edgenuity login links, transcript requests and many more great school related items!
On October 9th, there is a full day teacher PD, so no students.
*Junior high students are encouraged to use the West parking lot for drop off and pickup in the morning and evening.
*We have masks available if students forget, or if they get lost.
Finally, we encourage anyone coming in to meet with administration to make an appointment so we can better serve you and ensure we can give you the time needed to talk! For items that can be resolved through email, we would love to help in that way as well. 😻
